Gamaliel Hector
They call me Mister Gamanova. I am candidate number AMC10302, I am from Léogâne, Haiti. I come today with a heart heavy with sorrow and gratitude, a heart that carries stories, memories, and emotions… because without my mother, I would not be here today. I also come with my truth, with everything life has taught me through the eyes and sacrifices of an extraordinary woman.
I am participating in the AMC competition, under the theme called “It’s thanks to you, Mother.” But for me, this theme is not a simple phrase, it’s not a slogan that sounds nice… it is the truth of my life, it is the root of my existence, it is the source of everything I am today. Each word carries a weight of emotion, each syllable resonates like a heartbeat that reminds me where I come from, and who still stands behind me.
Mother, today I speak not only as an artist, but as a child full of gratitude … I speak to you directly, because these words come from my soul, they come from the depths of my heart where love and pain continue to live together without ever separating.
It was you who carried me for nine months in pain, while your body was changing, while life was testing your strength… but you never complained. You chose to smile, even when your heart was heavy. You chose love, even when life wasn’t sweet to you. You kept hope alive even when everything seemed against you.
Some days you woke up early without knowing how the day would end… but you always found a way to make me feel safe. Some days you didn’t eat so that I could eat, you put your needs aside so that my future could come first. Those sacrifices never made noise, but they have marked my life forever, they are engraved in my soul like marks that will never fade.
Some nights you didn’t sleep, you watched over me when I was sick, you prayed silently for God to protect me. When I was afraid, you became my strength. When I fell, you reached out your hand to lift me up. You weren’t only my mother… you were my first friend, my first teacher, my first hero, the first person who believed in me unconditionally.
It was you who taught me to walk when I was taking my first steps. It was you who showed me to speak with respect, to live with dignity, and to believe in myself even when all doors seemed closed. You instilled in me values like courage, patience, respect, and love for others. You shaped my character, you built the person I am today.
Life wasn’t easy for us, I remember the difficult moments… moments when we had to struggle, when hope seemed distant. But you never let go. You always held your head high, you always found light even in darkness. You taught me that a person’s strength is not measured by what they have, but by how they get up each time they fall, each time they face difficulties.
Today, if I have the courage to stand on a stage, to sing, to share my story with the world… it’s because you always believed in me, even when I myself used to doubt myself. You saw a star in me, even when others saw nothing, even when the world gave me no chance.
You always told me: “My child, never stop dreaming.” Those words became a guide for me. Every step I take, every dream I pursue, has your trace in it. Every victory carries your signature, because it was you who planted the seed of courage in my heart.
Mother, your love is a love without limits. It is not a love based on conditions, but a love that sacrifices, that forgives, that lifts up, that supports. You gave me more than life… you gave me the meaning of life, direction, and a reason to keep fighting every day.
Today, I don’t have enough words to thank you as you deserve. But with all my heart, I say thank you… Thank you for every tear you hid, thank you for every sacrifice you made in silence, thank you for never letting go of my hand, even when life was shaking us hard.
I love you more than words can explain. And this love will live in every note I sing, in every song I create, in every dream I pursue without fear.
The music I am presenting is an original piece. It is not just a composition… it is a fragment of my life, a piece of my story with you. It comes directly from the depths of my heart, where memories and emotions mix to give a truth that cannot be hidden.
Every word in it is inspired by your sacrifice, by the pain you bore, by the love you sowed in my life. It is a tribute to you, but also to all mothers who give endlessly, who suffer in silence, who love without limits.
It is in your silence that I learned to love, it is in your pain that I found the strength to live.
Because in truth… behind every child who stands tall, there is a mother who never gave up.
And as for me today, if I am standing here… It’s thanks to you, Mother.
